I think my Garmin maybe playing up, when I went to start my workout today, there was no workout showing, even though I know there should have been as I modified my training plan and sync’ed my watch last night.  Oh well, I’ll have to wait and see if Sundays session shows up.  In the meantime I manually configured a 9mile run and just ran at a comfortable pace.

All was fine until about 3 miles in when the muscle that runs down the outside back of my right knee started to hurt, it had been hurting on Sunday afternoon, but then seemed to go away, but now it is back, I ran another 1/2 mile then decided to head home, I didn’t want to go any further in case things got worse, I slowly headed for home, but on the way back, things seemed to get better, so I took the decision to carry on with my session, but closer to home, that way it wouldn’t be too far to walk if I needed to.

Luckily, everything seems to be ok as I type this, my knee gives me a little twinge when walking down the stairs, but otherwise it is ok.  I’ll have to watch out though as I have an 18mile run on Sunday and I don’t want to make things worse, I’ve come this far.

Other than the slight knee pain, there is nothing else to report, the wind down to the big day has started, I’ve only got 8 more training sessions and then its the marathon day, I’m starting to realise what I’ve actually let myself in for and while I knew it wasn’t going to be a stroll in the park, I’m now starting to understand what an achievement it is going to be to cross the finish line.

Hi John, I am having 3 days off running at the moment, as my knee has been a bit painful. Today is my third day off, so I’m hoping it will be OK when I run tomorrow. I’m determined nothing is going to stop me running on the day, so I’m being very cautious. It doesn’t hurt at all when I’m not running, but just starts about 2 miles into the run. You look like you’re doing great!
